The 2011 Calendar competition was another success! Many, many fine works of art and photography made for a stiff competition. Nationally known artist Nathan Solano was tasked to jury the show and provided helpful feedback to artists and photographers. His Juror’s Choice was awarded to Bill Gillette’s photograph Cattle Drive which was selected as our cover art.
The artists’ reception was held on May 15, 2010 and was a fun, successful event with plentiful food and companionship. The donated tomato plants given away as door prizes were a big hit! The Peoples Choice award, provided by visiting attendees, was a tie with Bill Gillettte’s photograph and Curt Gillespie’s oil painting Sunrise on Humboldt & Baldy. The voting was very close. Many, many of the works of art had votes supporting what an appealing show it was.
The morning after the reception the Gallery hosted two high school art classes. The comments on their favorite pieces ranged across the board. The students especially liked Jacque Keller’s brightly colored pieces and showed a particular fondness for Frank Kolbusz Meow among many others.
Congratulations to everyone!
