Hullabaloo!The 5th Annual Art Hullabaloo, Saturday, Oct. 1 in downtown Westcliffe, is sponsored by the Sangres Art Guild whose mission is to promote and develop the arts in the Wet Mountain Valley. The all day affair is held in conjunction with the 3 day Plein Air Paint Out competition.
The day begins with the pre-parade Patti Smithsonian puppet workshop at the library community room, 209 Main St., for CHILDREN OF ALL AGES from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Patti then has a one woman accordian band while puppets appear from within her clothing. The Pretty Good String Band plays at 10 a.m. at 3rd and Main Streets. Parade at noon from the west school parking lot, down Main Street. The Westcliffe Line Dancers will perform after the parade in the 200 block of Main. Kids are invited to see the award winning PBS show "The Big Green Rabbit, at the library community room at 12:30 (after the parade). At 1:15 at Price Park, see Jim Jackson's Art Guffaw Show about a clown who wants to be an artist. At 2 p.m. in the library community room, Salida Circus will hold their circus workshop for kids. At 3 p.m. in Price Park, Gushikawa will perform her Ceremonial Sword Dance for Peace. Then, the Blooming Bush Women will play their eclectic blend of music. At 4 p.m., In Concert presents Too Many Trombones on the porch of the 3rd St. Gallery. The Plein Air Paint Out Reception is from 4 to 7 p.m. with awards and ribbons at 5 p.m. All day is a gallery walk, treasure hunt and history docents at historic buildings. They will sign visitors' maps for a chance at prizes of fine art and coupons from area merchants to be given away at the 3rd St. Gallery. See the Sunny Daze fiber arts show at Sangrita restaurant, 212 Main St. will be on display Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1 The Westcliffe Contemporary Quilters and Fiber Artists have created a special show based on the Good Morning America sun. Tie Dying at 3rd St. Gallery. Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition with cash prizes. Get chalk at 3rd St. Gallery, complete artwork by 2 p.m. Awards during reception. Art, artist demonstrations, hands on art in the park, face painting, music, street performers and much much more all day downtown Westcliffe.
