Arts Hullabaloo 2023

Arts Hullabaloo returns for its 17th year with exciting new events and returning old favorites guaranteed to share the fun of creativity for kids of all ages. During October 6 & 7, participants will spend TWO fun-filled, awe-inspiring days packed with events creating warm memories of the Wet Mountain Valley, showcasing the arts, visual arts, performing arts, musical arts as well as the Art of History and star gazing to name a few.

Chalk Art Competition starts. There will be cash prizes for kids, families and adults. Use your imagination. It can encompass almost anything; family, wildlife, music, art, scenic beauty, the seasons, dark skies, history, there really is no limit. The judging is done by age group.

You can pick up your sidewalk chalk and entry form at Greenstone Artworks , 100 Main St. from 10am to 4pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday. The competition ends at 2pm on Saturday.  The spots for the creation of your Chalk Art will be marked. The chalk art is for all ages as well as families and finishes up on Saturday. Final artwork is judged with cash and special prizes awarded.

7:00PM – ‘BABBLE OF VOICES’ presented by WCPA

In conjunction with the 17th Annual  Arts Hullabaloo , the WCPA will present ‘BABBLE OF VOICES’, co-sponsored by the West Custer County Library.

The date is in question, either Thursday, Oct. 5 or Friday, Oct. 6.

7:00PM – BABBLE OF VOICES, a reading of original works by local and regional authors, on [WAITING FOR CLARIFICATION OF DATE],  7 pm at the Jones Theater.

Saturday at 3rd St. Gallery” returns with favorite vendor’s showcasing various arts & crafts, kids’ face painting, kids paint too, roving musicians, dance, entertainment and FUN.

9am – 2pm: (NEW LOCATION for 2023) At 3rd St. Gallery – South side where Farmers Market was held  Vendors, Musicians throughout the day, and Creative Stations:

  • Face painting
  • Flute Music by Danica
  • Kids paint too!  Art easels for  painting
  • Ink/alcohol painting with Julie
  • Special Creative project with Pink
  • Native American Drumming and History
  • Tattoo Art
  • Decorate Kites
  • Various other Creative Stations for all ages!
  • CCKC (Custer County Kids Council) – Creative Station
  • Various Vendors with handcrafted items
  • Music by various local musicians
  • Story Telling
  • Dancing by Gushikawa
  • More fun

Chalk Art continues until 2:00pm.

  • Award winners announced between 4 and 4:30 at 3rd Street Gallery Reception
  • Kid’s category and Family category.

Also returning is our “Quick Draw Competition” with models intended for all ages, and People’s Choice awards.

  • Peoples’ Choice Awards – public invited to vote

  • Bring your own art supplies
  • Final artwork may be framed or unframed.
  • Sales of artwork are commission-free and must be handled by the artist. Artists can set up a vendor booth for sales all day. See the Vendor Application form.

Arts Hullabaloo and ‘What’s New!’

They are joining Arts Hullabaloo by offering ‘Hullabaloo’ specials or drawings at their locations.

Enjoy sales of your artwork or fine craft outside of 3rd St. Gallery during Arts Hullabaloo. For a small fee, artists/vendors can set up a 10’x10′ booth and sell their artwork or fine craft without commissions. All sales and sales taxes are the responsibility of the exhibitor.
