Now Showing 'Shadows & Light'

July 3-27, 2025

Reception July 5th from 1-4pm

Ken McGowan, the featured artist for the July reception, is also the Feedback Artist, offering inspiring encouragement in writing to any of the artists showing in July who chose to be part of his feedback. Ken is a  renowned artist and teacher, showing in many galleries in the region, teaching in Canon City and Florence.

Smythe & Taylor were a huge hit, it was an up close and personal concert, many times the audience sang along. What a genuine treat!!

Ken McGowan, the featured artist, was also the artist providing feedback for those who wanted to be a part of it. Everyone who was there got a personal overview and something in writing as well. All left the interaction inspired and amazed at the depth and insight of Ken's comments.

Ken with local photographer, Sandi Dalton.  Elaine and Dale Coleman get to be inspired!

July SHADOWS & LIGHT Show Awards & Winners

We had SIX first time entry artists and they were all a fabulous addition to the show! THANK you for coming all the way from Buena Vista, Canon City and rural parts!  We finally were able to offer all three awards, since the last two shows there were no new artists!

You can view more of the entries here at 'Shadows and Light' - July Show

Marcia Lewis was selected as the Mystery Award judge and after many times around the show, she decided on Eileen Piasecki-Couch's oil painting called Vermont. Marcia said what caught her was the shadows on the path, they felt very inviting and cool!

First Time Entry Award went to Tom Brown and his fabulous watercolor called Tunnel Vision. Since we had 6 first time entry artists we had to draw names. Tom definitely deserved the award, the painting is exquisite.

Stefanie Sere, News Director at KLZR was the Community Award person and after much consternation, she chose Susan Marion's painting which coincidentally was the featured artwork on the posters for the Shadows and Light show.

On-going Classes April - October (Non-SAG)

Welcome our new Gallery Manager!

We are thrilled to have Eileen Piasecki-Couch as our new Gallery Manager!

I have lived in Westcliffe about 10 years, and have been a member of SAG for 6 years. I lived most of my life in Rural New York and worked as a Microbiologist for American Home Products, currently Pfizer Pharmaceuticals until I started my own business (The Pine Island Herb and Spice Company). After 28 years with my own business supplying products to over 60 grocery stores, I sold my company in 2014 and retired to Colorado with my husband when he retired from Pfizer. Since that time, I have worked as an EMT for Custer County Ambulance and Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center with the Ambulance Service and in the ER. Most recently, I worked for the Custer County Public Health Center. I am also a private pilot, and when able, fly non-medical emergency patients for Angel Flight West. I’m currently retired and volunteer for Sangre Arts Guild.

The next time you are visiting the gallery, please say hello to her!

If you have any questions or concerns, email Eileen at gallerymanager@sangresrartguild.org
