2025 Calendar Art Competition (Intake)

This is a juried show. Thirteen (13) artworks will be chosen for the calendar by juror Gloria Countryman.

ENTRY FEE (non-refundable):        $8 per piece for SAG members

                               $16 per piece for non-members

CRITERIA:

  • Each artist may enter as many as three (3) artworks. The calendar will include no more than one work per artist. The show will include one to three works for sale from each entering artist.*
  • Each piece is limited to 1,296 square inches, with no single dimension greater than 36 inches, as measured at the outside of its frame. Note that the aspect ratio of the calendar is a horizontal 8.5 x 11 inches. The editor may crop the image of unusually sized calendar artwork as needed to create a good calendar design.
  • Artists may enter any medium. The three categories are original 2D artwork, original photography and original 3D artwork.
  • All artwork must be original (no reproductions) and created by the artist within the past three years.
  • Artwork must be framed or mounted appropriately.
  • All 2-D artwork must be properly wired for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are not accepted.
  • Unframed gallery-wrapped canvases must be at least 1.25′′ deep with no exposed canvas fasteners and have finished edges such as a painted edge.
  • Standard 3/4” deep canvases must be framed.
  • All artwork on paper must be under glass, plexiglass, or suitably protected.
  • Artists must complete intake forms and waivers when submitting.
  • All artwork submitted must be for sale by the Gallery during the entire show. SAG’s commission is 30 percent for members and 40 percent for non-members.

* SAG reserves the right to reject any artwork for any reason.

‡ Copyright reminder: All submissions must be original works. Artists must hold copyright to their submissions and have permission to reproduce any source materials.

THEME:      

This is an opened themed competition. Subjects are open to your imagination and are practically unlimited. Show us your best work!

AWARDS:

  • Thirteen artworks chosen for, and published in the 2025 SAG Calendar.
  • People’s Choice Awards:  $75 for 1st Place and $50 for 2nd Place, presented at the Opening Reception. People’s Choice awards are independent of the 13 chosen calendar artworks.

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all artists of all ages. SAG membership is not required.

Entry into the show constitutes agreement by the artist to allow their artwork to be reproduced for publicity purposes and in the 2025 SAG Calendar.

ART SHOW AND SALE:

Opening Reception Saturday, May 4, 2024, 4pm - 6pm.

Artwork will be professionally shown and offered for sale from May 4 – May 25, 2024 at 3rd Street Gallery or alternate venue to be announced.

 

To make this a special event, we encourage artists to invite their clients and attend the reception.

PICK-UP:

Pick-up of unsold artworks is Sunday & Monday, May 26 & 27, 11am - 3pm.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

SAG will photograph each winning artwork selected by the judge during the week following the competition. For that purpose, frames must be removed.  SAG will contact the artists to coordinate any re-framing, which is the artist's responsibility. All winning photographers must submit a high resolution photographic file and a printed 5"x 7" color proof that exactly matches their entry.

LIABILITY:

Although SAG treats all artwork carefully, artists must carry their own insurance. Neither Sangres Art Guild, 3rd Street Gallery nor any alternate venue accepts any liability for artwork associated with this competition, exhibition or sale.

Attach the following information to the back of your artwork or bottom of sculpture. You may use the following information tag, which will also be available at the Gallery on intake day.
